Radiating pain occurs in some acute surgical diseases of the abdominal cavity. The determination of the causative pathology is carried out using modern imaging methods (ultrasound of the scrotum and penis, urography, MRI of the external genitalia), laboratory studies. Treatment depends on the location and genesis of the pathological process, it can be conservative or surgical.

The reasons

Pain in the genitals in men occurs with acute and chronic pathology of the penis, scrotum, prostate, urethra, bladder, rectum, abdominal organs. Often, the pain radiates to the pubis, groin, perineum. Pain in the genitals can be of different intensity and character: aching, stabbing, shooting, burning, etc. The causes of pain in the genitals, as well as their localization, are different:

  • Anomalies in the structure of the genitals. Painful sensations usually occur during urination, sexual arousal, coitus, but can also be felt at rest. Malformations of the male genitalia include hypospadias, congenital phimosis, and cryptorchidism.
  • Inflammation of the urinary organs. May occur as a result of sexual transmission, ascending or descending spread of infection, hematogenous and lymphogenous infection. In men, it often occurs in the form of urethritis, cystitis, prostatitis, orchitis, often accompanied by purulent discharge from the urethra.
  • Tumors. Neoplasias (neoplasms of the bladder, urethra, penis cancer, erythroplasia of Queyrat, prostate cancer) are often accompanied by persistent pain, impaired urination, and the appearance of hematuria.
  • Injuries. The most common injuries of the external genitalia are bruises, burns, frostbite, infringement, incised and gunshot wounds of the genitals, and fractures of the penis. Pain in the penis can be caused by the introduction of foreign bodies under the skin of the penis or into the urethral canal for the purpose of sexual satisfaction.
  • Acute surgical conditions. Radiating pain in the genitals in men may indicate the development of acute diseases of the abdominal organs: appendicitis, strangulated hernia, renal colic.
